Four RIT students from the School of Film & Animation/SoFA (Kenton Cummings, Matt Lees, Ed Foose & Tom Bardenett), along with Faculty Advisor Dave Sluberski, participated in the 2013 “Sleepless in Lake Placid” 24-hour Film Competition. The required theme elements, e-mailed to the team one day before the shoot began, had to include:

  1. An opening quote about mountains followed by an establishing shot of the mountains (Adirondack skyline)
  2. A scene with one or more people watching something on a device, oblivious to the world around them
  3. A fishing lure
  4. Inclusion of four actors

The seven-minute-long comedy film short which the team submitted won the Audience Choice Award over the other competitors. This is the second consecutive year in which the film team from RIT won this award at Lake Placid.
