In the 3D Concentration focus is placed upon using technology and technique as a means of story telling and film-making. This concentration focuses on applying traditional animation techniques for motion and storytelling in the service of computer generated "3D" imagery and characters.
Students are exposed to industry grade high-end 3D software and equipment. They learn to model, texture and rig characters and objects made from polygons, NURBs and subdivision surfaces. Classes are offered in lighting, character animation, compositing, motion graphics and dynamics.
In addition all 3D students learn to edit their projects with commercial grade editing software and works stations.
SoFA graduate students get immediate exposure to animation equipment and software. Students have complete control over their own projects and productions. Sofa MFA students will capture their own frames, composite them in the computer, and prepare them for output to visual media such as video, dvcam, dvd and video.
