Malcolm
Spaull is an international
award winning filmmaker. His work has had
theatrical release and been seen on HBO,
Showtime, The Learning Channel and other
cable distributors. Professor Spaull began
teaching at RIT in 1980 and from 1985-1992,
served as Chair of the Film/ Video department.
From 1994 -1999 he headed The Center for
Digital Media @ RIT, which provided new
media courseware and created large scale
interactive projects for Xerox Corporation
and other external clients. Recently he
has returned to the School of Film and Animation
to teach and coordinate the School's graduate
program. He continues to produce and/or
direct educational and commercial videos
for national and local organizations. Malcolm
is also the Manager of the Apple Certified
Training Facility at RIT.
Johannes
Bockwoldt is an Assistant Professor
at the School of Film and Animation. He
received his MA from Temple University in
Philadelphia, PA. At RIT, he teaches film
and video production and screenwriting.
Originally from Germany, in his writing
Johannes aims to balance a European sensibility
with story telling as exemplified by the
best of American cinema. He is currently
in pre-production for Heart of Saturday
Night, a feature length dramatic musical
that takes place during one Saturday night.
His short film, It’s Only a Dance,
was shown at the 2003 Image, Movement, Sound
Festival in Rochester, NY.
Virginia
Orzel is an award winning independent
filmmaker who is in the process of completing
her MFA Thesis here at the Rochester Institute
of Technology. She has produced, directed,
shot and edited several projects including
a nomination for a New York Emmy and an
Iris Award. In addition to her own thesis
project, she is currently working alongside
documentary filmmaker, and fellow SOFA faculty
member, Cat Ashworth as the videographer
for "Beating the Biological Clock."
Nancy
Ghertner is an independent
filmmaker and has been an adjunct faculty
member at the RIT School of Film and Animation
for many years. She studied literature and
art at Colby College, which led her into
the dynamics of installation art. Since
receiving her M.F.A. degree from the Rochester
Institute of Technology in Film and Video
she has been teaching digital video production
and experimental film workshops in the School
of Film and Animation. She has won awards
from "Videographer" magazine and
the New York State Council on the arts.
Nancy is also an independent producer and
an educational consultant in media with
several local school districts.
