I like to take random footage with my canon camera and play with it in after effects. The results are sometimes wicked kool and i can later turn them into matte’s and used them as transition effects.
sweet ^_^
Here are the short low-res clip versions. enjoy! If you want to see the high-res, please contact me. Feedback is appreciated! ^_^

Funny thing I always named my projects but for some reason this one keeps slipping my mind. I can only find “M”. I will rummage around my archives again and also post some process sketches of this project.
This is another short video from awhile ago. Here I created my own sound using soundtrack pro. I also wanted to push myself and tried something new. I took a leap and tried to incorporate green screen of people into my piece. And during the process, I failed to do alot of things I should of done (ex. proper lighting) but through this project I have learned from my mistakes and gained more experience.
I like making my own sounds, I hope to practive more in the future. (too bad i cant actually play an instrument though @_@)

This summer I want to take the raw footage I have of the dancers and maybe experiment with it more and create something amazing. Toning and practicing my after effects skills.
This was short piece was done last year in EMM class with Jason Arena. I did this video in a time span of about a week and half, back when I was just really learning motion. Its the first time I exported 3D into after effects. I made this a very abstract piece about a girl that emerges into another world through her tv screen.

Song is by Explosions in the sky, “A song for our fathers” .
This is an idea from Fall quarter then never made it to the final production. My partner and I had both originally worked on this project together. The theme of our project was to show something about global warming or the environment. (A never-ending theme this year in every single class. urgh)
We both are conceptual people and wanted to do something not so literal. It was my partner’s idea of the theme “7 deadly sins”, that we should state how people are the problem not only to the world but to themselves. And I contributed by suggesting a style of using inks, relating to how everything moves in fluid motion throughout our lifetime. We both love traditional art and using self-made resources, so we had agreed. Unfortunately though, my partner had was not doing her end of the workload and I was unable to do everything myself, so then we had to shorten the project and cut a lot of graphics out. We finished the project but I am not completely satifised with the results.
Through that unfortunate chain of events though, I have learned to better manage myself and have gained more experience and knowledge to produce faster artwork. I have also learned better and more confident communication skills.
So I found my original storyboards that I did, it prob needs another round of comps but I want to go back to that project and complete it for myself. Please let me know what you think, Here’s a couple of them:

Mood/Stlye boards:

The most exciting part of it, was when I got to make my first ink footage sinking in water! I love manuel labor, so getting the camera and lights set up and buying the tank and everything. It was such a great learning experience!
Here’s a clip of one example of the many footage’s I took. I wish I added a couple more lights. I was able to still mask it out but it wasn’t easy.
