  Gravure Curriculum & activities

Below are the current plans for expansion of School of Print Media (SPM) curriculum to more effectively cover the gravure process:

2081-386-01 Gravure Process

The undergraduate-level course analyzes the infrastructure as well as the print production workflows in the gravure printing industry. Students will comprehend the use of gravure as a business solution for publication, packaging and special product applications. In addition to classroom lectures and laboratory assignments, students will meet and interact with gravure industry professionals during RIT Gravure Day and take an extensive industry field trip to visit cylinders engravers and gravure printers. Class 2, Lab 3, Credit 3 <more>

2081-786-01 Gravure Process

The graduate-level course provides graduate students enrolled in the School of Print Media an opportunity to study gravure process as their professional elective. Graduate students attend lectures and laboratory sessions with undergraduate students. A self-directed project is required to demonstrate in-depth understanding of the gravure process and it may be enhanced via modern digital color management technology. Class 2, Lab 3, Credit 4 <more>

2080-599-06 or 2080-799-06 Independent Study

Independent study into any aspect of gravure imaging, is encouraged by and will be guided by Prof. Chung. Students should feel free to contact him with any questions or comments: rycppr@rit.edu. Including an essay stating the area of interest is preferred and will help in submitting the independent study request to SPM.
