  Courses

Here are courses that Prof. Robert Chung is teaching at RIT currently.

2081-386/786 Gravure Process
The course analyzes the infrastructure as well as the print production workflows in the gravure printing industry. Students will comprehend the use of gravure as a business solution for publication, packaging and special product applications. In addition to classroom lectures and laboratory assignments, students will meet and interact with gravure industry professionals during RIT Gravure Day and take an extensive industry field trip to visit cylinders engravers and gravure printers.

2081-562 Color Perception and Analysis
This course addresses principles of human color perception and how colors are communicated by samples and by measurement. It explores the role of visual perception in art appreciation and subjective quality assessment. Students will learn how to specify and assess color from design to print for packaging and publishing applications.

2081-711 Tone and Color Analysis
This course will explore the science of process control for repeatable color and extend the scope of ICC-based color management practices by integrating a number of imaging devices in color-managed digital workflows. Students are expected to work in a team environment, to engage in planning, and conducting experiments, and to publish a technical publication using the state-of-the-art printing facilities.

2081-577 Printing Process Control
Test targets and color measurement technology are tools used in optimizing and calibrating various components in a color reproduction system. This course will integrate many technical disciplines, e.g., metrology, statistics, process control, to make a color imaging system repeatable and predictable. Emphases will be placed on selecting test targets, color measurement, and data analysis tools for evaluation of device-level and system-level performance.

2081-763 Advanced Color Managemnt
This course will explore the science of process control for repeatable color and extend the scope of ICC-based color management practices by integrating a number of imaging devices in color-managed digital workflows. Students are expected to work in a team environment, to engage in planning, and conducting experiments, and to publish a technical publication using the state-of-the-art printing facilities.
