Comps and a Better Concept!

Wednesday, September 12th, 2007

I’m scrapping my old idea as I wasn’t particularly excited about making it. I think that this next idea however is a lot more fun and has potential for expanding.

I was watching a movie trailer the other day and thought “Wouldn’t it be funny if when they show little snippets of all the reviews they actually used some of the negative reviews they got?” In comes this idea: A dynamic movie trailer where all elements can be changed by the user. Let’s have a looksie at the interface:

What we have is a movie trailer, a direct button, a review button and an act button. If a user clicks on “DIRECT” they will be given a few options about what to change about the movie trailer. For example, the music, the intro text, or even the movie title. The “REVIEW” button will allow the user to take the role of a critic and give a 1-2 word review along with their pen name and their company. These reviews will show up in the standard movie-trailer way accompanied with a booming sound effect. The last button “ACT” would allow the user to record themselves if they have a webcame. This section is most likely beyond the realm of this project but it might be something I could finish for a later project using Flash Media Server. They would record a 3 second recording of themselves which will be placed into a section of the trailer.

Watching the trailer would fetch the latest entries from all of these sections so the trailer will always be evolving.
