Kyle Alvut is the senior colorist at Eastman Kodak Company where he oversees operations in the Entertainment Imaging Digital Systems Laboratory. He brings to RIT over 25 years of experience in traditional and digital color correction, video and digital post-production workflow and digital intermediate applications. In addition to guest lectures for the Motion Picture Science program, Kyle also teaches an adjunct course in Digital Color Correction for both BS and BFA students in the School of Film and Animation.

Edward J. Giorgianni retired in 2005 as a Senior Research Fellow from Eastman Kodak Company, where he worked for thirty-eight years designing advanced photographic and electronic color-imaging products and systems. He is currently an independent consultant to several corporations and professional groups, including the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. A Kodak Distinguished Inventor, he holds more than thirty patents in the fields of imaging technology and digital color management. In addition to his research work, Giorgianni has taught courses in color science and color imaging for many years, and he is a four-time recipient of the Imaging Science and Technology Instructor of the Year Award. He is the author of numerous technical papers and a contributing author to four textbooks on color imaging and color management. Ed teaches advanced color management courses on behalf of both the Motion Picture Science and Imaging Science programs at RIT.

Andy Kurtz

 

Andy Kurtz is a principal guest instructor in the Motion Picture Science program, focusing on telecine scanning and optics, and film and digital projection. Kurtz is a Principal Scientist at Eastman Kodak Company, where he has worked on the development of optical technologies and systems in areas including motion picture film scanning, motion picture film and digital projection, laser printing, and intelligent imaging.   He has BS and MS degrees in Optics from the University of Rochester, and has contributed to numerous US patents, and authored several papers and a book chapter on laser beam shaping.  Kurtz is also a recipient of a 1998 Emmy Award from the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, as relates to his work in the development of the Spirit  Datacine film scanner.

 

 

Steve Wright

 

Steve Wright is a Senior Compositor, 2D Technical Director and a senior industry veteran in visual effects compositing with over 20 years of production experience. He has over 60 film credits such as "Blade: Trinity", "Ray", "Solaris", "Traffic", "U-571", "Air Force One", "Hart's War" and many, many more and has also created the visual effects for 70 broadcast television commercials. Steve is now a master trainer traveling around the world conducting VFX compositing training for major visual effects studios using Shake and Nuke. He also produces training programs and conducts classes and workshops both on-line and location based. He has published two books on this fascinating subject (available on Amazon.com) and his Shake training videos are available on Lynda.com. He is a member of the Visual Effects Society (VES) and the Digital Cinema Society (DCS).

 

 

Chris Hart

 

Chris Hart is the senior cinematographer for Eastman Kodak. Like many cinematographers, creating photographic images has been a passion for Chris from a young age. With intentions of pursuing feature film work, he studied fine art photography and filmmaking at Rochester Institute of Technology. Chris has been involved with every new film program that Kodak has introduced beginning with the EXR family in the late 80’s. He has been responsible for creating demonstrations used in launching new film products as well as internal technical comparisons for Kodak’s systems development group. In addition to shooting, Chris has taught Kodak cinematography workshops for students all over the world. Though he admits to not be overly technical by nature, he gleaned a wealth of photographic knowledge by rubbing shoulders with the world’s finest photographic scientists and engineers. With a practical approach to solving photographic problems, Chris has helped many customers and workshop students in their understanding of the art and science of motion pictures.

 

 

Greg Arnold

 

Greg Arnold has spent 35 years as an engineer with Eastman Kodak's motion picture technical services teams. With experiences ranging from manufacturing and quality appraisal to sales and marketing support in Hollywood and Europe, Greg brings a wealth of knowledge in customer applications and motion picture film technology. Greg is currently manager of the Kodak Trade Applications Laboratory within the Entertainment Imaging Divisision at Kodak He is also a member of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE), BKSTS and has sat on the board of the Association of Cinema and Video Laboratories (ACVL).
