The screenings schedule is as follows. Monday of week 10 at 12:01am the online registration system opens. Once that process is completed you will print out a receipt. Thesis projects can register their time slot with FVASA as soon as they have a receipt. Everyone else can register their projects with FVASA on Friday between 9:00am and 12:00pm. All media must be submitted to the server by 12:00pm noon on Friday of week 10 or submitted hard-copy at the time of time slot sign up.

We encourage all students to read this in order to full understand screenings policy to avoid misunderstanding that might impact your screening experience.
Go to http://www.screenings.rit.edu to register your film. You will notice the site is different – we have fully redone the screenings sign up process. Step through the sign up wizard, filling out all requested information. Be sure to indicate the medium correctly, as it affects the steps of the wizard.
Once the student profile and project profile are complete freshman that are submitting film will be provided with the receipt page. Print this out and bring it with you for time slot sign ups on Friday.
Upperclassmen projects that are submitting as QuickTime will be prompted to upload a file to a server. Follow the instructions outlined online to do so using YOUR own R.I.T. DCE account information to log-in. Once your upload is complete continue with the wizard, matching your screenings entry to the file you uploaded. You will than be prompted by the receipt page. Print this out and bring it with you for time slot sign ups on Friday.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR RATING: Please keep in mind the following rating guidelines when registering your film:
G: All ages admitted. Contains no objectionable content.
PG: Not be suitable for children under 10. Contains mild language, crude/suggestive humor, scary moments and/or violence. NO bloodshed, NO drug content.
PG-13: May be inappropriate for children under 13. Contains sexual content, brief or partial nudity, some strong language and innuendo, humor, mature themes, political themes, terror, and/or intense action violence. Minor drug use, minor bloodshed.
R: May be inappropriate for children under 17. Contains strong profanity, graphic sexuality, nudity, strong violence, horror, gore, and/or strong drug use.
NC-17: No One 17 And Under Admitted. Contains, excessive graphic violence, intense or explicit sex, depraved, abhorrent behavior, explicit drug abuse, strong language, and/or explicit nudity.
**If your film has R or NC-17 rated content, and it is not specified in online registration by you and/or registered during the allotted 4pm-6pm time-block you may be subject to disciplinary action or barred from screening.
Freshmen: All film projects must be submitted on film reels with plastic cans. You need 12 feet of leader in order for us to run it through the projector. The leader must have your name and project information as well as your can. All digital projects must be submitted on DVCAM tapes that are cued up to the beginning of the work. Place masking time on your can or tape case with your name, phone number, project title, and duration.
Upperclassmen: Your films must be submitted as a QuickTime file uploaded to the screenings server. Files submitted as QuickTime to the server must labeled with this naming convention: “LASTNAME_TITLE.mov”. If your film is not labeled in this way on the server, it will immediately be deleted. Our recommendation is that you export your files at the highest resolution and compression possible based on your capture medium. For more information on exporting and compression check our website. If you still have questions you can e-mail us at rit.fvasa@gmail.com. As of Monday at 12:01am of Week 10 the server will be open for submissions. PLEASE NOTE: Once a submission is made it is final and CANNOT be changed for any reason without special permission. Additionally all projects must be submitted to the network BEFORE 12:00 PM (noon) on Friday of Week 10. ABSOLUTELY NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE WITHOUT SPECIAL PERMISSION.
Sign-ups for screenings will be Friday of Week 10 in the lobby outside of the FVASA office, right next to the film/video cage from 9am-5pm. This is the ONLY time projects will be accepted, NO EXCEPTIONS. At 5pm no more time-slots will be assigned and all projects must either be on the server or on their way.
To sign up you must bring the following things:
Your receipt print-out from our website. This is a must, you cannot sign up without it.
Freshmen: Your film on a plastic reel with can, labeled correctly.
Upperclassmen: Your film must already be on the network server in order to sign up. You will not be allowed to choose a timeslot if your file is not completely on the server.
Slots are available by date and time starting Saturday after week 10 and going as late as Wednesday of Week 11. Available days and times are at FVASA’s discretion but all films that register properly and on time will be allowed to screen. Slots are all given on a first-come, first-serve basis. If there is a certain time you want, please arrive early.
NOTE: No sign-up sheet list besides one officially sponsored by FVASA will be honored when we open our table. Do not try to write your name on a piece of paper at 4am by the cage, leave, and come back at 9am and expect to be first in line.
On the day of your screening, please arrive 2 hours early to ensure you will be present for your screening and the questions/comments that follow it.
If you don't show up, your film will be skipped and showed at the very end of the last day of screenings.
