At FVASA there are two kinds of processing that we accommodate. For all freshman projects: we ship your black and white reversal film to PacLab in New York, NY. There is a flat rate for this that includes processing costs and shipping both ways. You pay for your film when you pick it up.

In general, film is shipped out the same day your provide it to us and returns 2 business days later. There can be delays however, and we are not responsible for any delays in processing or film lost or damaged by the lab. We encourage students send out their projects for processing at least a week before you would like to begin editing to ensure you will have your processed film in time.

We also assist upperclassmen in getting their film processed and transferred at several other labs located domestically. We will not ship the film for upperclassmen but we can arrange connections and provide information.

If you are concerned that you under or overexposed your film you might consider pushing or pulling in processing. What this means is that your film will be left in the developer either longer or shorter.

If you think you under-exposed, or did not have enough light or a wide enough aperture when you shot an entire roll of film you should request push processing on that roll. Try and estimate the number of f-stops by which you under-exposed and label your film with Push # Stops.

If you think you over-exposed, or had too much light and could not close the aperture enough when you shot a should request pull processing on that roll. Try and estimate the number of f-stops by which you over-exposed and label your film with Pull # Stops.

There is a higher rate for pushing or pulling 1 stop and then an additional charge if it is for more than 1 stop.
