Undergraduate Visual Media (BFA)
Program Overview
The Visual Media program allows the student to integrate the graphic communications professions of photography, graphic design and print media. This program will prepare you for a career as a visual media specialist, training you to fulfill current and future employment demands for photographically-skilled professionals who can work effectively with graphic designers, print media specialists, and multi-media professionals.
The Visual Media curriculum emphasizes photographic proficiency, both in photographic and digital imaging techniques, and has a specialized focus on graphic design or print media. You will gain real-world business experience through a series of courses exploring applied management processes, including the development of business plans, project management skills, production planning, and personnel practices. As a student in this program, you will also able to take several college-wide electives to broaden your interests.
This program is ideal for you if you wish to experience various aspects of the graphics industry. You will be strongly encouraged to spend time in internships to strengthen your on-campus education. Upon graduation, you can be a diversely-skilled visual media professional, going on to an exciting career in photography, graphic design, print media (including desktop publishing, photo retouching and workflow), or advertising.
