The Illustration program will prepare you for the communication arts industry by helping you to develop traditional drawing skills, teaching you the latest digital imaging technologies, and giving you practice in sculpted dimensional methods. You will develop your individual style and learn conceptual skills to produce effective illustrations for advertising, book publishing, editorial art, and many other applications. Many of our studios have computers integrated into their workspaces, with large computer labs always available. The Illustration faculty provides exceptional professional preparation and exciting learning opportunities, and shares with students its involvement in research and scholarship. Recent graduates of the program have found employment as illustrators in a wide variety of industries including book and magazine publishing, retail and product manufacturing, graphic design and advertising, digital and stop-motion animation studio work, and museum illustration.
