Two-quarter project in which we designed seating devices for Wilsonart International. In addition we addressed a situational context through the seating device.
Meditation is an effective way to restore focus and creativity.
The chair will encourage the act of meditation.

The chair will visually represent the mental state and feeling of meditation through its aesthetics.
1/4 scale model development.
Full scale corrugated and chicken wire form study.

Chair mold formed from blue insulation foam covered in steel mesh to hold form.
Asterisk pieces ground to shape and laid up on mold for welding.
Steel hexagons welded from back of chair shell to hide assembly.
Hand bent steel rod segments welded together then to chair.
After powder coating applied lasercut laminate with water based contact cement.
