Facilities

SoFA's new facility includes state-of-the-art classrooms, screening and sound mix rooms all with HD projection and 7.1 surround sound. Our Post- production area includes a twenty seat edit lab, five private edit/color grading rooms, Foley, narration and audio control rooms, flatbed film editing room and a film/data transfer complex.

Our two-story main stage features a 15x30-foot green screen wall, cycloramas, light grid with full dimmers, wild walls, an adjoining prop shop and grip and light cage. A second smaller stage is also equipped with light grid and a Reflect Media screen.

Our animation complex includes a twenty seat teaching/modeling/animation computer lab, a twenty four seat drawing lab, three crane rooms, an undergraduate computer animation lab, a graduate computer animation lab and four stop motion studios.

First year live action students shoot on 3-chip standard definition cameras using DV tape and Bolex 16mm film cameras. Upper class and graduate students shoot tapeless P2 format HD and super16 film. Our 1000 square foot cage contains all the necessary professional lights, sound and camera support gear.
