Bruce Leonard started his teaching career as an adjunct faculty member in the School of Design and was appointed Lecturer in 2013. His professional career included stops at Unicor, Pulos Design Associates, Harris Corporation and 32 years at Eastman Kodak Company where he rose to the position of Manager, Digital Cameras and Devices Industrial Design. He currently holds 21 patents in the fields of consumer photography and medical imaging. Products developed by his Kodak design staffs have been recognized by IDEA, Red Dot, iF, Good Design/Chicago Athenaeum and CES Innovations.
During Leonard’s tenure at Kodak he maintained an active connection with the design education community as a guest lecture at Syracuse University and RIT. Industrial design interns he’s mentored included students from Art Center College of Design, Cleveland Art Institute, Carnegie-Mellon, Syracuse University and RIT. It was during intern recruiting trips that he developed an interest in reviewing student portfolios and continues to do so at RIT and for any recent grad or colleague who requests.
