Do you love photography? Are you a high school or community college student? RIT’s School of Photographic Arts and Sciences (SPAS) is looking to recognize photographers from this important group through an Instagram competition, juried by respected faculty.

The RIT Photo Prize contest’s mission is to discover, support and promote the next generation of image makers.

How to enter

Its very simple. Tag your 10 best Instagram posts with #ritphotoprize2017. That’s it! Jurors will follow the tagged submissions from Sept. 10-Oct. 27.

Winners will be announced Nov. 10, during our Day of Photography event. Attendance is not required to be a winner.

Participants must currently be enrolled in seventh through 12th grades or community college. Final awarding of prizes will require proof of student status. Awards are generously provided by Adobe.

Below are the honors that will be given out:

Image of Excellence
The recipient of the 2017 RIT Photo Prize will receive an app subscription to Adobe Creative Cloud, which includes Adobe’s entire collection of professional software for one year, a tote with goods from the RIT Photo Store and an online feature on the RIT photo blog and SPAS’ Facebook page. Additionally, the winner’s teacher will receive a copy of this software package.

Four Images of Distinction

Jurors will also select their favorite photos from the hashtag stream. Four jury selection winners for the Images of Distinction category will receive a one-year subscription to Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop, an online feature and RIT Photo Store goods.

Five SPAS faculty members will jury the competition. They were chosen to represent the various majors.
