CIAS set for art-filled night with second ‘Gallery Hop’

Last month, the College of Imaging Arts and Sciences at RIT hosted its first-ever “Gallery Hop,” where three exhibitions — one in each of the college’s galleries — opened on the same night. Now, this month, CIAS is holding another event with an identical format. 

The second Gallery Hop is set to celebrate and showcase MFA thesis projects exhibited by graduate students in the School for American Crafts and Schools of ArtDesign and Photographic Arts and Sciences. The opening receptions of all three shows with thoughtful, interesting work are set for 5-7 p.m. April 21 in Bevier, William Harris and University galleries.

Below is an overview of the CIAS thesis exhibitions that open that Friday night, and where to find each:

Bevier Gallery

This show will showcase exceptional bodies of work by eight MFA candidates in the School of Art and School for American Crafts: Shane Caryl, Ryan Florey, Carter Hopkins, Joe Lee, Julia Manson, Samyuktha Valluru, Xinhao Yang and Lingfei Zhao. It is set to include work in ceramics, furniture, glass, metals and jewelry design, sculpture and installation. On view through May 6.

William Harris Gallery

“alt. facts” is an exhibition by MFA candidates in the Imaging Arts, Photography and Related Media program. Participating students include Jee Young Bang, Dustin Brown, Katie Efstathiou, Robert Gordon and Chen Wang. Their photography, video and installation will be up until May 4.

University Gallery

The MFA industrial design exhibition featuring 14 students is scheduled to be held here. The participants are Reema Aldossari, Priyanka Brambarkar, Yi Feng, Shih-Hsuan Huang, Michael Kelly, Nicholas Miclette, Wilson Patton, Wenjing Qi, Kaining Qiu, Elizabeth Stegner, Jiahe Tian, Hui-Yu Yang, Yue Zhang and Runhao Zhao. On view through May 20.
